Its on ebay right now listed as a Universal tenor, serial # 40XXX, has the octagon keyguards, but on the 'wrong' side. No Front F either. Wie gehts?
I just bought a Universal alto. It does not say Dolnet but has the trademark keyguards, left hand bell keys and angled to the (players) left bell and no high F. After limited playing last night, it seems like a nice horn; nice action, in tune and a very full sound. I can't compare to a "real" Dolnet never having played or even seen one.

I have one of these. A tenor. it is just like the alto described above. it is in my estimation a solid playing horn. Although I suppose you would have to consider it a student/intermediate level sax, I find no diference in playability or quality between it and my Dolnet Belair. the primary difference is the features (adjustment screws front F etc...) Right now My Dolnet is my primary tenor and the universal is my backup. Although I am working on a Kohlert 55 stencil that may challenge that.
