what is the difference between kohlert 55 and 57 and boosey and hawkes edgeware tenors? i noticed that the 55's have wire key guards and left hand bell keys. is that about it? what about action, sound, build quality?. do all the 57's and edgewares have sheet metal key gaurds? any thoughts are appreciated.
thanks

The edgwares are a stencil of the 57. They are in effect the same horn. All that I have seen have sheet metal keyguards. The 55's are similar but have slightly different keywork and the LH bell keys as you mentioned. They are all great players. I have a Rene Dumont 55 tenor stencil that is waiting to be overhauled as soon as I find an appropriate neck for it. I'm sure it will cook when it is done.
