Does anyone have any experience with the summer jazz camp held by the Sierra Jazz Society in Grass Valley, CA (http://www.sierrajazzsociety.org/)? This will be their fourth year. The description looks pretty good. But I wonder about the quality of instruction, the facilities, etc.

If you have some knowledge about the camp, I'd appreciate hearing it.

Thanks, Bass

Sorry, the web address is a .com.

Also, this year is their third year. Last year they had only 45 students. But I wonder if this would be an advantage since one would get more attention from instructors.

ramZsax:

I posted a request for information on this jazz camp on several Usenet news groups. Fraid no one was able to offer any insight. But on the strength of the faculty description, I think I'll give the Sierra Jazz Society camp a chance.

I considered attending the Sacramento Traditional Jazz Society camp held every summer in Sy Park (Placerville). I've heard it's a good experience. Even so, this isn't my favorite sort of music, and I'd like to study with folks who are into modern jazz. Maybe the Grass Valley camp will fill the bill.

If you do sign up for the Sierra camp, drop me a note (pbasofin@yahoo.com).
