Question about "Sarabande and Gigue"

In Gigue, by Fisher Tull, there's a little slaptonguing passage... there are two parts where there's a ST'd note tied to another note. My question is.. was he wanting that to be treated in the same way that a drummer would treat a note in the same situation by hitting it, then waiting for the duration of it, ot is he wanting it ST'd then go right into the note?

The note starts with a slap-tongue attack and is otherwise as normal.
