hi my friends,
i'm currently staying at my friend's apartment in Worcester. i need to know how can i practice "quietly" without bothering the neighbours. i usually practice at around 10am, in the closet, so i know most of them would've gone to work. but i get put off because i cant play at my usual volume.
but 1 thing i found out though, when i play softer, i hear the progressions more and my fingers move lighter... plus my rhythm's slightly better too. but i think playing too soft is bad for your sax life...what do you think?

i'm sure a lot of you have gone thru what i'm going thru... pls help

thanks!

If you scan a little deeper in this section you'll find several threads about quiet practice,my main advice is tell the neighbours politely that you are only staying temporarily, that you are a musician, need to practice and give them an approximate time you may disturb them each day and a time you'll be finished by,I think you'll find most people will be understanding.Apart from that shove a cloth in the bell of your sax. 8)

i used to worry about this, but i think the best thing to do is be single minded and play as much as you want. as long as you do this with a bit of sensitivity and at a reasonable hour they cant really have any legitmate complaints.

i live in a one bedroom flat and people in the building have got the hump about it from time to time, but thats the only 'problem' they get out of me, so they can learn to live with it or move out if you ask me.
