I have a Buffet Crampon Paris sop sax with serial# 97xxx

It has the gold colored laq keys on gold colored laq body.

Adjustable palm keys

Metal right thumb hook

Black Plastic left thumb rest.

Any info on this horn would be great :-)

Thanks,

Zach

The only saxes I know of with adjusable palm keys are Keilwerths. Your number is off the end of the scale of the chart on Steve Goodson's site which ends around 35000 in 1985.

Is it anything like a current Keilwerth? - the current Buffet pro horns are badged up Keilwerths, though I didn't know they had done any sopranos. An older Buffet probably wouldn't have a front F key (they didn't have right up to and including the S1 model). Otherwise, it could be a Buffet Evette (Chinese made horn) which would not be a very nice sax and I would not expect to see adjustable palm keys.

It does sound like a modern Keilwerth/Buffet.

sounds a lot like my alto. All of the same defining characteristics.

I actually just came to this site tonight looking for info on it (since no one seems to know). What I've found so far is that it matches the "S3" images on saxpics.com, which also have adjustable palm keys. There are no soprano pics, though. I have never seen a pic of another S3 until tonight!

I purchased mine in 1996 used. It's a 98xxx serial. Hope this helps.
