Dexter Gordon live at the Monmarte Jazzhuis from 1967. Vol.2 there were 2 records both killer. One has a great version of that tune by Dex
Lee Konitz with Warne Marsh on an Atlantic recording with tha same name, now available as a Koch cd.
Great tune. One of my favorites. Supposedly Lester Young made a recording of it in Europe in the 1950s but I haven't come across it yet. Would love to hear Prez on this tune.

Sonny Rollins recorded an eccentric version where he played part of the head up a semitone on the second time round - it does not sound at all out of key!

Sattva, what recording? I love Sonny and would like to hear him play the tune.
Mike:
I have Sonny doing it on side 2 of "3 in Jazz" RCA LPM-2725 @1963, a collection of cuts by groups lead by "infant" Gary Burton, "middle" Clark Terry, and "timeless" Sonny with Henry Grimes and Billy Higgins. There may not be many of those vinyls around though. It is a typical Sonny adventure.
Just looked on ebay - there are 2 cd reissues currently listed for the 3 in Jazz recording.

If you're trying to learn any song try to hear as many version as you
can; it only helps in terms of giving you options/ideas.
Newks version is on the live CD from 1959 entitled
St. Thomas - Sonny Rollins Trio 1959
Also check out a great album called: Blowing In From Chicago
Features John Gilmore and Clifford Jordan on tenors; on the Blue Note
label
the opening tune is called Status Quo, and is an original head written
to the changes of ` There " " " " be another you `
More importantly is you should learn to voice the chords to any standard
at the piano(or guitar if it's easier..) .
Get the harmony internalised. It gives one of the firmest foundations you
can have. But don't get stuck there, either, experiment and explore.
But learn the actual changes(to any song)

was just going to post Pres, then saw you got there first.
theres a beutiful ballad-like version he recorded with jim hall, ray brown and jo jones (i think). i cant think of the name of the album, but it's from the early 50's and has pres (presumably drunkenly) doing vocals on two takes of a scat type tune.
i know people tend to think he faded badly towards the end of his career, but i think when he was on it in his later period there's a lot of emotion in his playing. maybe he didnt swing like he used to, but he always got about on his horn, right up to the end.
Lester's health was failing in the late '50s and sometimes that was noticeable on the recordings but he could still "tell a story".
