i've got a chance to buy this - 1976 Ida Maria Grassi Tenor Saxophone.
i've done a search on those terms, no luck, so i thought i'd ask if anyone here knows anything about that particular model.
thanks

How do you know it is a 1976? Is that the year the seller bought it?
There are several people here who are quite happy with their Ida Maria Grassi tenors. I am one. As far as I can tell, mine was made in the late 1960's.
Pictures would help enormously. Otherwise, get the serial number (these are often small letters). Say whether you see the word "Professional" on it. Are there green pearls?

the seller has advertised it as having been bought in '76 and the serial number confirms that fact.
i'm very tempted, but need to know a little about this horn

There is a recent post with some serial number information. Your serial number matches up with 1976, according to that information. The tenor you are considering is a bit later than mine. These are good saxophones. Have you had a chance to play this one?

no haven't played it - yet.
good sax you say? is it worth the money? i mean, it's so cheap it's ridiculous if it's a good sax.

Try it and let us know how it plays! :)
There is no other way to know if it is a bargain or not....
