Hello all,

I'm playing a Yani/Vito stencil bari low A early 80's that treats me well but I'm still looking for that better bari. I owned a Buesher 400 mid 60's that sounded boss but the keys kept opening against my leg and my hands weren't big enough for the action. Could not trust it 100% which was awful.

Just found a Conn 12M 60's bari in a neighboring state. I'd hate to give up the low A, but have heard Conn 12M's rule ( I assume it's low B flat ). I could get it for $995 or less. Haven't made arrangements to play it yet.

I would appreciate players telling me of bari love or hate relationships with a Conn 12M. I'm I stupid to cheat on my beloved low A, ergonically friendly Yani/Vito, or is this Conn worth looking into? Not room for two bari's in my world.

thanks everyone
Tony

I vaguely recall reading about Charlie Parker having picked up a baritone at a jam session and playing the hell out of it. Anyone know more about that or any recorderd evidence?I specifically recall having read that Pat Patrick (mentioned above) had joined Monk's band post-Charlie Rouse (per Langford, originally in Jazz Journal, '70 and '71 and reprinted in Brilliant Corners). Anyone know of recordings of Patrick with Monk? My '96 Lord doesn't cite anything.
