I would like to suggest a topic titled something like "Jazz venues around the world" where posters could ask about and receive advice on where to find good places to go to listen to jazz. If you planned a visit to a city or perhaps even a country that you had not been to before, you might post a query as to the names and locations of recommended clubs, bars, restaurants.

I agree. I'm going to Singapore in a couple of weeks. Any suggestions?

Indeed, truly an excellent idea. And if the URL for a given venues' website could be posted as well, it would make such a topic area even more valuable.

Having just spent a week in Washington DC, such a topic area would have been most useful. For example, I was aware of Blues Alley due to the Eva Cassidy recording, but I was not aware of Madam's Organ or the most excellent jazz concerts each Friday evening at the Westminster Presbyterian Church on I Street. One of DC's best kept secrets it seems.

Created.

I've modified the original topic slightly to reflect a "broader" audience, rather than just jazz. I also included the "sax and groups that feature sax" tag to reflect that this is a saxophone forum :)

I thought it was such a great idea, I made a listing for Calgary. So come on B-Flat, what are the hot spots in Montreal? Do you also want a brief rundown on the clubs? The ones I chose are nice places in safe neighborhoods.
