Congratulations are in order for one of our own, tenor saxophonist BobM….
Bob’s band, The Residuals, made up of employees of Fleet Capital Leasing, won Best Corporate Band in America at FORTUNE's third annual Battle of the Corporate Bands, held at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland on October 18.
A total of eight bands, the competition finalists culled from over 50 entries, competed in front of a panel of four judges and an audience of approximately 500 people.
The judging panel consisted of Seymour Stein, President of the Rock & Roll
Hall of Fame Foundation; Marky Ramone, drummer for the Ramones; Roger MacNamee of Integral Capital Partners; and solo artist Johnny A.
"Once again, musicians from different corporations across the country proved that rock and roll is alive and well in the business world," said Kip Meyer, sales development director at FORTUNE. "This year we showcased some amazing talent, and we're already looking forward to next year."
As all band members are full-time financial professionals, the Residuals play only for the enjoyment and entertainment of both themselves and their audience. The band has played several dates at clubs in and around Providence, including The Call, a premier rock venue. In addition, the Residuals have played at corporate parties and charity gigs. Any funds the band receives for its music is donated to local charities; most recently, the Residuals made a substantial contribution to the Station Nightclub Fire Relief Fund in nearby West Warwick, RI.
Congratulations to BobM and the Residuals! Keep Rockin!!!
