Hello,
I'm a senior saxophone major, graduating next year, but I still have trouble learning pieces. It seems to take forever! Is there some kind of more efficient way to practice to learn my music more quickly? I might be trying to tackle too many things at once (8 pieces for alto, a few for tenor, plus jazz stuff, plus required piano lessons), but other than putting some on hold, what can I do?
Thanks

Do you ever play parts you can already play perfectly? Don't practice those parts! Just work on the really hard sections, then play through the whole piece a few times once you're worked on the individual sections, to get the idea of the flow. It will still take a lot of time, but less so than if you couldn't resist the urge to just play through the piece again and again.
