Greetings. I own Amati Kraslice Classic Deluxe soprano saxophone, and I think that it is quite lousy piece of metal. Therefore I have decided to buy new soprano. My tenor is YTS-62, so I think Yamahas are quite good horns. Im thinking of buing YSS-475, because it doesnt cost much comparing to others but it still seem quite potential.

So, Im broke student, and that is huge investment. So before starting to save money big time, I would like to hear your opinions on this horn. I have played 6 years and Im average, little over average for my age (17).

YSS-475 is very nice horn, very smooth keywork, easy to handle and sound nice. It's not too bulky like 675 and 875. You can use it for many years. Just a bit weak on the material.

Don't forget also compare with Yana S901. For that price range, only 2 soprano you should consider: YSS-475 & Yana S-901

Hi Gandar
I really don't think you can do better than the Yam for the money. i'm in the UK and the Yani 901, that Tears suggests is quite a lot more money over here. Don't know what the cost difference is where you are. Check em both out if you can. I played on quite a few 475's and they all were free blowing and set up pretty well.

Well, in here, YSS-475 costs around 1695 euros and Yanagisawa S-901 around 1900 euros. If they are both quite same in sound and all, I prefer the cheaper horn. But, 1695 euros is huge amount of money, when I get it saved, there may be new models in stock. But in case of that, I know where to come :) . Anyway, thanks.

It's understand as a student, you may not afford to pay too much. But remember - Surely YSS is very easy to play, almost effortless. However, you may feel boring after one or two years. Reason is it's sound more polite and plain.

Of course, if not possible for you to test/copmpare the YSS-475 with a Yana S-901. Then 475 is your only choice.

Gandar, the YSS-475 is a good horn. A lot of us who play professional model tenors use the YSS-475 as a double, and are quite happy with its performance.

YSS-475 is an excellent horn for the bucks. Very heavy and built like a truck with excellent keywork. I played mine with a Bilger Gold mpc. What a sweet sound! I sold it to buy a pro tenor and regret it to this day. When I'm able to purchase another sop, it will definitely be another 475.

Hmmm...Weak in materials? You mean the quality of brass or something? Like does it rust or dent? Hmmmm...How much does it cost? (US Dollars) and how much does the Yana-901 cost?

I bought a YSS475 from http://www.saxophones.co.uk/ about a week ago for $1088 including Fedex shipping to the States. I ordered on Monday and had the horn on Wednesday and it plays perfectly. This was a limited time offer so I don't know if they have any more stock but probably worth checking out! Love this soprano - couldn't be happier!
