Beware anything but the bigger manufacturers (ie those under "makes and models" here). Intonation and construction may be undesirable and if you are serious about playing you must use a serious horn.

I bought a STAGG curved soprano in Germany a few months ago and have
been learning to play. It cost just over 300 EURO on ebay. I've been using it
with a Selmer S90 mouthpiece and a Lakey 6* (no other markings). It plays
the full range of notes, although I, as a beginner, am still learning to
play them in tune :) I had a couple of friends check it out and it is playable.
Having said that, it is definitely not the highest quality out there! I have
already used masking tape to hold one of the corks on, and had to play
around with the mechanism of the high E key for the right hand.
I'm very happy with it at the moment, and it will be a while before my playing
has improved to the point where I will need a more serious horn. At least
then I'll be able to test-drive the more expensive ones...
This is a chinese-made horn as far as I know, there is a STAGG company
that makes guitars but I don't know if there's a connection.

there are some STAGGs in my local shop. I tested two of them - sopranos - one curved model and one straight model. The curved model had bad intonation the second sax had better. I normally play on old Weltklang soprano with Rico Royal M7 mouthpiece. I liked these saxes keywork but the tone wasn't good for me and they weren`t so freeblowing as my Weltklang.
