I'm nowhere near having to perform a senior recital (I'm only a junior in high school) however:

What are some songs that you musicians play for your senior recitals. The only pieces I'm somewhat aware of are the "Glazunov," "Creston: Sonata," "Ibert: Concerto de Camara," and, what my director did for his Sr. Recital- "Desenclos: Prelude. Cadence, et Finale."

Maybe not all of these are great for Sr. recitals- I know many saxophonists audition on the Creston...

Also, are there any JAZZ oriented pieces that could be performed? I'm very jazz oriented in my music, but whenever I want to practice jazz, I just get out some charts that my school jazz ensemble plays, and all I need to practice are a few measures here and there. Some big solo piece, like a jazzed Creston, would be too awesome. Regardless, I have to get some solo piece ready for our school's Solo&Ensemble contest we have in the spring. Any suggestions, preferably jazz ones if they exist?

Thanks everybody. This forum is such a great resource...

I just did my senior recital at the University of Arizona...

here was the program:

Partita for Sop. Sax and Guitar by David Noon
Laberinto III by David Soley (solo alto)
Histoire du Tango by Astor Piazzola (quartet)

second half

Vir by Christian Lauba (solo tener)
Ars by Christian Lauba (two sop. sax)
Steady Study on the Boogie by Christian Lauba (solo alto)

my advice, stay away from all those overly (and usually poorly) played pieces. Learn them cause we all have to and then look to the forefront of composition....

I disagree that you should steer away from classics from the sax repoirtoire. Pieces like the Creston, Heiden, Glazunov (my favorite), etc are standards and should be learned and performed.

On the other hand, it IS very important to not DWELL on these pieces. I agree with playing newer pieces. It's good to know what's out there, and play it.

Therefore, a senior recital should be a showcase of what you learned through college. And hopefully, through college, you learned a variety of pieces/styles.

But PLEASE don't shun the standards. I don't think they're "often poorly played". I've heard the Heiden played wonderfully, and I've heard the Glazunov played so beautifully that I cried.
