Hey all,
I am a college student playing on a Series III Alto with a Meyer G 6M, V16 3 reeds and an Ultimate Ligature.

I got the money together and decided to start doubling on the tenor, so I went to NYC, tried out a bunch of saxophones and loved the Ref 36, but the price was silly high so I bought one for $4000 off of Saxquest (still pretty silly high, I know).

I also purchased a Metal Otto Link 7, and I asked them to throw in a few different reeds that they thought would work well with the set-up, I don't know exactly what they are going to give me though.

My question is, what kinds of reeds would anybody recommend I try to help with a quick transition? Sound wise, I would say I would like a dark, rough tone, I have a decent-sized Alto sound...

Also, anybody have any experience with Tenor Madness or Saxquest?

I've dealt with saxquest on smaller ticket items and they've been great every time.

For your otto link 7 i'd recommend checking out Alexander superials. 3 and half is my fav. Tenor madness and saxquest are both great everytime.

I use a Link 6* and I've gotten great results with Vandoren 2 1/2 reeds. I wouldn't advise the V16 reed cut from them, but Java and ZZ are pretty good. They tend to run a little soft though...
