I'm thinking of raising the amount I have my horns insured for. What would be some good sites or dealers who sell lots of vintage horns so I can price my horns? For example, where could I find a value for a 1936 Balanced Action alto w/ 95% original laquer? I used to get prices from Steve Goodson's website but don't know if he still has one. My insurance co. will accept info like this from a dealer or website in lieu of an appraisal.

I haven't looked lately but I have seen Goodson's site (saxgourmet) and prices were listed. I thought he was really high in his values, but that could be a good thing for an insurance appraisal. DAVE

Your probably not going to get a site to write up a written appraisal on your horn unless they have them in hand. If your insurance company takes information off of web sites as solid dollar amounts sounds like you need a new insurance agent, or I need to start up an instrument appraisal web site. By all means Goodson's site is still up why not use his numbers if you can? Do you already have a separate rider on your instruments? I'm trying to figure out why you would need to increase the amounts if they are already insured, if you mean from your homeowners policy, I don't even count that they are usually only covered up to a pretty low dollar amount, (around $1k) and if they are in your home.

They always have a nice selection of Selmers that will give you a ballpark figure for insurance

I want to increase the insured value because the value of the instruments have gone up since I first insured them. These are insured with a separate company other than my homeowner's policy.
