All State Jazz band

Hi, I got accepted into my states All State Jazz Band, I was wondereing if you any of you had that experience and could tell me what i need to expect from your experiences.

it varies per state. here in texas, the all state jazz band is composed of high school musicians of unbelievable caliber, including matt marantz, probably the youngest saxophone player on the cover of downbeat magazine. in less competetive states it could be a diferent story.

Well this is Washington....with the best jazz bands in the nation...Garfield, Roosevelt, mount lake terrace, edmonds-woodway...all have made it into essential ellington.

Oh yeah, i don't go to one of those schools, i get to go to a no name school with a horrible program.

I go to Mercer Island, and did not make all-state anything. heheh.

what up man? I tried out for all-state last year and this year and got alternate both times :( . Oh well, our lead alto player got in last year and said it was sweet. U make friends who can play and get gigs all over after that!
