Thanks for reading this.

I have seen a King Cleveland 613 on eBay, I'm a beginner (though some of you are probably groaning cos you know this already! I've been here a lot lately...!)
..and wondered if any of you know anything about this model. The girl who owns it told me it need a new neck cork soon and some new pads but that's it.
Item no: 2577737040
Is it more expensive to have stuff done to a vintage??? Do they have to have special more expensive pads, corks etc. Do techs charge you more to work on them??

big thanks,
it's only on for less than a day left!!

This horn is vintage in age only. It has absolutely no resale value or collectability. They are really great playing student model horns though. I had one myself from 9 years old through college, and it had a great sound. After college the horn needed a total overhaul (pad and tone-hole wise) which would have cost much more than what the horn was worth, so that horn is sitting in my closet and I have no plans to take out. It's been replaced by a King Zephyr.

Vintage saxes use the same materials as modern ones, so no, it doesn't cost more to fix them then new horns... but they might require more work depending on if the age of the horn has affected its condition. I don't know what the price is for this horn, but I got my Cleveland for around $500. If there are a significant number of pads to be replaced, etc. then I wouldn't buy this horn for more than $300. I'd only pay $500 if the horn was in good shape AND ready to play w/ no repair work to be done.

Yeah. I would classify it as a good student horn level. Better than a chinese sax at least.
