Just agreed to purchase a Bach Stradivarious Model 12 trombone locally for what seems like a good price. I've done some google search and found the NEW price.
Any thoughts on this horn would be helpful. It's strickly a buy and sell situation.
Thanks

Thats the small bore horn right? The entire trombone line here in the OSUMB uses them, and a handful of local guys I know play them as well. I played one for a little while about two years back and it was very nice, based on my little experience on trombone.
I'd say go for it!

I haven't played these small bores from Bach but play a 50B open wrap myself. My friend sitting next to me plays a 36B, both have the LT slide. These are Bb/F horns and they play great. A bit clear sounding but with great projection and they can be pushed.
We both feel these Bachs have a little more resistance and need a bit more work compared to our other tbones (Yamaha 648 and a King 3B) but they speak easy. Great sounding quality horns. You will enjoy these Strads, versatile bones for any style of playing.
Here's a short clip from the t-bone section I play in. Tis is with 3 Strads and a King. (http://www.bigbandboesten.nl/downloads/cds/greetingssalutations/001_01%20Greetings%20&%20Salutations.mp3)

My husband is a trombonist, and a Bach 12 is his horn of choice for lead playing in big bands (I think that he had five trombones at last count). It's a widely-used small bore professional horn. I can't comment on the price--it depends on the age and condition--but he says he'd pay about $700-800 for his horn if he saw it for sale today. Does that help?

Edit: the OSUMB uses Strad model 36
