At least my SX90R alto will not fit the Hiscox case - the thumbrest fouls the inside of the case. It just MIGHT go in if you made an indentation in the case lining to accomodate the bell flair that is wider and further from the body than other makes. Haven't tried the tenor, I have a tenor Hiscox case but use a Selmer horn...

I concur. Nor will a current production Buffet. If you take the thumb rest off, the Buffet almost fits and can sort of be made to go in, but I never actually forced it. JK might well come close this way--never tried it.

I bought Winter Greenline cases for my SX90Rs (alto and tenor), and though I realize they're not all that sturdy and have weak latches, they fit the JKs like a glove (and the Buffet) and provide good enough protection PROVIDED you keep the case with you and use a safety strap to ensure no unintended opening. The cases are really light and classy looking. They're not too expensive, and they don't get too many questions from the airlines.

Winters may well be the only contoured case on Earth that will properly accommodate an SX90, since even WJ, who makes a special JK tenor case, doesn't make one to fit the alto.

Thats strange,my Ponzol and SX tenors do fit in a Hiscox procase. The bow area was a bit tight at first but now it fits like a glove.I havenīt tried altos.

I bought a JK SX90 Alto that came in a Hiscox case. It seems to fit fine. It is the standard, not pro model case. Since it was sent in the case, I don't know if modifications were made to make it fit better, but the lining doesn't look damaged in any way.

Possibly they have amended the case design, mine (a PRO) was a secondhand buy. Still, worth checking before you buy if you have a JK.

You can take a tack hammer and crush a little of the foam in a Hiscox around the bell area and make it fit. I wouldn't recommend this however, but it can be done.

I just took a close look at my case and discovered that where the thumb rest hits the lining someone carefully pushed in the foam layer so that it would fit. There is an area about the size of a dime that does not have the plush lining. They did such a good job that I had not noticed it.

That would bother me. If the thumb rest is that close to the outer shell and has little padding, it _will_ suffer in an impact - and transfer that pain to the body tube. It's a classic injury of horns in cases with insufficient room between the horn's parts and the shell of the case.

Well, I guess I could unscrew the thumb rest every time I put the horn in the case  But then I would have to keep a big screwdriver in the case (and the thumb rest) which would probably, eventually knock into my alto and cause big dents :x

The padding behind the thumb rest doesn't look that much thinner than in other places on the case. I've used the case now for a year without a problem (although I've certainly learned to be more careful than I used to be when I carried a MVI in a cheapo gig bag!)

I concur that the JK SX90R does not fit in a Hiscox Pro Alto Case. I purchased the Alto and Tenor Pro cases and the Alto just would not fit, the Tenor could be made to fit, but I kind of stick to the old rule, "...if it doesn't fit, don't force it!"

My hiscox fits my Keilwerth New King sax perfectly!! Protects the plastic key guards great!! + lots of room for reed, mouthpieces ect! 8) The SX90r must be a lot bigger than my Keilverth!! :?

keilwerth have big bells for low notes, but fit in very few cases. A good one is the walt johnson. they make one for keilwerths and all others.

I just bought a couple of Hiscox cases; my Keilwerth stencil alto (DJH modified Conn, extremely similar to early SX90) fit perfectly like a glove. It came with a little pushed-in area to provide extra clearance for the thumb rest. Although I bought the other one for my King tenor, I tried a Couf Superba I tenor in that case, and it doesn't even come close to fitting...the thumb rest just sticks out way too far and the neck receiver clamp is too wide.
