My sister is borrowing a tenor sax from school, and the name stamped into it is Grassi. It was made in Italy. Can anyone tell me more about it, like if its actually any good or not? Just curious

Alas, Ida Maria Grassi have now gone out of business.
They made all kinds of wind instruments, mainly at student level, but they allegedly made some really decent pro horns before bowing out.
Don Mackrills in London stocks them and I believe he got his from Bill Lewington.

I spoke to Bill Lewington's (also in the UK) as I owned an old Grassi model and they were most helpful. Perhaps an Email to Bill Lewington's may help you. ( sales@bill-lewington.com )

Regards.

Have you found out anything about it yet? There is very little info about Grassi on the web I noticed.

I.M Grassi's factory closed three years ago.
During their history, they made every kind of horn, from student horns to professionals, great choiches for sizes and lacquers.
There are still hundreds in Italy.
The body is copied from Conns, and the bari works very good. This would be
my second choice horn,but I have a couple of tranny 12s :)
There is still some stuff from them at Rampone & Cazzani in Italy, and at
J.Keilwerth in Germany.
