View Full Version : Moving target?
Just a poll of sorts...
How would you feel if you (the buyer) agreed to an offered price and then the seller writes back asking for more?
When I commit to a deal, I figure that's it. Done. End of story. I'm bumming but at the same time (after just finishing Paulo Coelho's "The Alchemist") wondering if it just wasn't meant to be. :?
(Great book, by the way. A quick read full of many fine twists and points to ponder.)

There is no way that you should pay the extra money. I mean, business is business and if someone raises the price after already agreeing on another price, then to he** with them!
Thats just bad business.
Mind giving us a little more insight?
Thanks for sharing, Dave. That's pretty much my read on it as well. I'm going to take a few more days to let this dust settle. Heck, maybe the seller will take the opportunity to think it through and get back to me with the original deal! Hmmm, or maybe I'm just an optimist. :)
I truly hope that he gets whatever he needs for the horn. I just tire of getting jerked around. We've seen it before. I'm sure we'll see it some more.
Didn't the alchemist go out with the middle ages?
Didn't the alchemist go out with the middle ages?
I guess you need to get caught up on your reading to learn whether that's the case or not. I'd say "No, the principles remain.'

Yeah man, if somebody changes the price of an item after a deal is struck, then the deal is off!!!!

Depending on the specifics, you may well have an enforceable contract. The seller could in theory be forced by a court to sell the sax at the agreed-upon price, but I'm sure you don't want to drag it into court.
It's beyond just sleazy; it's a violation of contract law, at least in the the 49 non-Napoleonic US states.
Or maybe I'm just in a bad mood today.
