I play a GM I (lacquer) tenor (16,xxx). Was wondering what kind of pads and resonator combo it came with new. The present pads are with plastic resonators and are OK and project a good sound. I don't know what brand they are. Also, a reference as to where one can purchase pads for this horn.
Thanks, in advance.

If I had the money for an SML Id not worry about the factor pads. Id be lookng around...probably at MusicMedic.com ...possibly at the Roo pads that come with an assortment of rez choices. The pads that came with your sax are probably fine but likely there are better custom pads avaliable that will stick less and offer superior performance. Curt is very helpful, if you email him he certainly can offer some guidance but obvously the choice is yours in the end. If your happy with the projection and want no tonal changes to speak of (there will always be minor ones since pads and felts will now be new) then go for plastic Rezs. There is nothing inherently wrong with them. Metal dome make for perhaps a little more projection but not a huge difference. However, when you get into the Noyaks you will hear a difference. If I needed pads Id go Roo since they supposedly last longer and do not stick. Prestini makes some pretty black pads that are supposed to be quite good. I dont think Id limit myself.
