I know that the overall quality of these horns changed throughout their production run, so I was just wondering about that since I'm looking for a tenor.

The whole run of THC tenors is greatly desirable. The horn was unchanged (or virtually unchanged) till later.

The very best 10Ms were made before Conn changed their brass to a lighter alloy. This probably happened about the same time they went to nickel-silver keywork (around serial #500,000, ca. 1955), but I don't know for sure.
