How do I perform a pitch bends like smears and glissandos?

to do a pitch bend, you basically lower your jaw while you're playing. while playing a single note, try reducing the pressure being applied to the bottom of your mouthpiece. it's hard to explain how to do this, kind of an in-person thing to teach. however if you know how to do vibrato, this should be a piece of cake
