View Full Version : SML Tenor SN #11088 Any good??
Hi there!
i'm a total ignorant a SML Saxs and a louzy Sax player. I got this Tenor about 6 years ago for about 500$ not actually knowing what i was buying. Is this sax any good? is it a vintage sax? or just an ordinary mediocre sax?
thanks in advance
Jose
Do some reading about SMLs here (and at saxpics.com, and in the old SOTM archives, and...), you'll see that many of us consider them to be great horns.
Having said that, condition is everything with vintage saxes...
(FWIW, my SML tenor is 116xx - and it's nothing short of incredible!)
Thanks Max
I think the horn needs an overhaul. I believe it's an Rev D from what i read but i dont have the knowlegde to say if the horn is in good conditions. I has a couple of minor dents and it's very rusty (finish) but it plays fairy good. It's also silver-plated (or nickel-plated, can't tell). i was wondering how much could it be worth.
Thanks

It plays fairy good.
Sounds like my kinda horn. If you find anything better, I'd like to hear about it!
