I'm a total beginner looking for a new alto for under $600. Could anyone be so kind as to point me to the cheapest online shops (that ship to Ireland) ?
Also, out of the following two saxes, found at http://www.saxophones.co.uk/acatalog/Your_first_alto_sax_.html which is easiest to make a nice sound out of and requires least blow power?
Arbiter 202 Jazz Alto Sax
Jupiter 565 Alto Sax Outfit
Elkhart. New Model SXAD Deluxe Alto Sax
The New Trevor James S1 Alto Sax-Pack

Thanks very much for your time.

I reckon you could get a decent quality used alto for the money you want to spend. I took up the sax a few years ago and bought a new Elkhart Series 11, and I'm not too pleased with it. The next sax I buy will be from a reputable repairman/dealer. It might pay you to seek out a few and see what they have on offer instead of settling for some shoddy Taiwanese thing which is the mistake I made. All the best.

You can get a better used horn for those dollars that will also hold its value. When your done with the jupiter or what ever, you can probably get 250 out of it on ebay. Unless you need shiney new you can do better.

Thanks very much for all your answers. Well I got a new Jupiter in the end because I wouldn't have a clue as to what to check for in a used instrument to ensure it was up to scratch and a nearby shop did the Rent Then Buy plan only on Jupiters.
