i am interested in the A9930 despite its hefty price tag. is it excellent or is
it bad? does it have a good tonal quality suited to jazz playing? and is the tone in general awesome? i want this over the A991 but i want to know how good it is first

kyhi: You've posted essentially the same question in several threads . . . and if you read through the site, you will see numerous opinions.

ALL saxophones vary, even the same model from the same manufacturer. None of us can really answer your questions because we all have our predjudices AND personal experiences that are anecdotal at best. You would have to have a large number of each brand and model side-by-side to conclusively answer your questions.

Personally, I prefer Yanagisawas over other brands mostly because of build-qulity. But I'm sure someone on this board has a Selmer or Yamaha or JK or old Buescher that may outply my Yanas . . . or at least they THINK they may out play mine. You just gotta get out there and start the search and take your chances, like all of us have done. Good luck. DAVE
