Hi all,
I'm learning soprano saxophone but my hand is too small for the left palm key (to play low Bb, B, etc...). Whenever I play those notes, I need to adjust my left hand, and then when I play the other high notes, I have to re-adjust my hand to a normal position, that's a pain and I can't play fast passages. Will the Runyon Low C# Extension (http://www.runyonproducts.com/low.c.ext.html) help at all? At a price of $76, does it worth it?
Thank you very much,
Kenny.
Hi xuanvu,
I beleive the Runyon low C# extention could be a solution to your problem. Unfortunately I cannot speak from experience since I have never used such extention.
Paul C: Could you answer this for us??

Some brands of sax will be far easier for you to play in this respect than others.
They vary widely in the layout of the spatulas, and also the spring tensions involved.

Some years ago Santy Runyon called me, said, "Paul, get up here right away, I have something you REALLY need to see!" It was the "Pinky Palm Key". As soon as the production model came out, I bought one, and later, another, and another.
The key will not work on all saxes, such as older Bueschers, Conns, etc, due to the way the low keys are hinged. But on the modern style instruments, yes.
This key enables the player to play passages with ease, that would normally takes years of practice, if at all, to play smoothly. The only drawback, the key itself must be removed to place the instrument in the case. However, the mounting block may be left attached to the key.
If you would like pictures of how this key is attached, please email me at:

My Sop. is the Antigua LQ590, so I guess the palm key raiser from Runyon will fits. I'm just curious about how to put the key on and will it be a permanent attachment or is it removable... I've just sent you an email for the pictures.
Thank you very much Paul.
Kenny.
