I am learning basic jazz piano, and have recently started learning changes on it. My question about rhythm changes is, can you alter the dominant 7th chords? (eg: on a G7 chord....G in bass, B,D#,F,Bb in right hand). In rhythm changes i use this on the 2nd chord change when i am playing in the key of Bb, and when changing to the Cminor7 chord, i begin resolving the Galt chord before i get there (eg: on the 2nd beat of the G7 chord i am playing: B in bass, B,D#,F, and Ab in right hand. And then when i hit the Cminor7 chord i just move the root up a half step, and then play Bb,D,Eb,G in the right hand. etc etc....

I have played through the changes using them in place of the dominant 7th chords, and it does sound pretty cool. But i have never heard them used in a playing situation before.

Any suggestions on piano voicings as well? i only know basic piano voicing, nothing special (eg: root in bass, 3,5,7,9 in right hand) i have inverted the right hand stuff before, but i just would like to know where i can learn some new voicings for rhythm changes or whatever. Thanks
