Hi
does anyone know when front f was introduced on the handcraft martin alto's?

I think it was pretty late in the split-bell "Handcraft" run, sometime while the serials were in 75xxx or so territory. I know you see a lot more Handcrafts w/o the front F than with it.
My Handcraft alto, 88xxx, has got it.

i have found a h/craft alto for sale serial no 85462. pictures arent too clear.I fancied trying a h/c alto to compare to my other alto's.I have a h/c tenor(typewriter) and enjoy playing it so why not try the alto!!

Well, I went & looked over some pics at Saxpic's site, and found a 74xxx horn that didn't have the front-F. I would bet that you're safe in the 84xxx range, though.

i did have a look at that site and was hoping to find a horn close too 84000
with front F.
According to the sellers last email it has the front F but you cant be too careful as many people arent quite as honest as SOTW users,so i was doing some extra work just in case.
