Hi all,

I have a mint two toned Gold Medal I tenor and I am having trouble with F3, F#3, G3 and G#3 when I use the front F key. I took it a tech and he opened up the palm keys a bit but that did not really solve the problem. I have tried different mouthpieces (large chamber and small) and that did not solve the issue. Any ideas? Different fingerings? Other than this I absolutely love this horn!

Try looking at the action on your front f key and see if it opens up as much as when you just press the palm key. I'm guessing it doesn't which is what will be causing your pitch to be flat on those notes. There should be a sliding adjustment on the front f key that dictates how open the palm key is when you press the front f key. Play with that adjustment until it is about the same as when you just press the palm key and this should help.

Let us know how you get on.
Dan

My tech said that my horn does not have that adjusment key like newer horns. What does it look like?
