i've watched this alto (ebay #150062180155) thinking it was overpriced and out of my reach, only to see it snapped up at the BIN price $999. are these worth that much? i've read the numerous posts about it being a beaugnier-made sax. can someone who owns and plays one please comment on the price level, build quality and sound/intonation etc? what does it compare to? i've seen SA & SDA altos go for this price, is it a comparable horn?
i might keep my eye out for one in the future, but definely not at this price

I used to have one of these, it was alright but not that great. I bought it for $400 and sold it for around the same. Ended up replacing it with a Buescher Aristocrat alto w/the brown rollers, 156, etc. for around the same price, which is a much better playing horn.

The seller doesn't look like a great prize, either. The only Vitos that should bring that kind of money (or lots more) are the Leblanc system horns with the full hand engraving and silver inlay. Like the Johnny Hodges model on the saxpics 2007 calendar.:D
