I am a 41 year old newbie and I have read a lot about reed care and would appreciate some feedback on my method. I am using Rico 2.5 on a B&S Allora Tenor with a Selmer C* mouthpiece. I am soaking my reeds in water for 15 minutes, then using my thumb, on a marble countertop, to provide pressure down the length of the reed to the tip. I am then storing the reeds in their plastic casing in a plastic vacuum sealed jar with about an 1/8 inch of mouthwash. I have hust started this routine with 3 reeds. After I play a reed for about an hour I rinse it with warm water, pat it dry, return it to the plastic case and store it in the jar. I rotate the reeds each day. Is this OK or am I doing it wrong? Thanks for your feedback.

Question, Are they playing well? Perhaps better than they would without the special treatment? If so, then it's fine what you are doing.
