Im not an extrememly experienced player by any means but I have played and owned a number of tenors prior to making (I think) a final choice of a 1958 The Martin committee (also happens to be in beautiful shape).
I hear more than enough talk about selmers and the like. Id like to hear peoples experience with this horn, any tricks, hitches, or observations to look out for. Im currently pairing it with a Otto Link NY (current production) 6* and playing it with a vandoren 2. Id like it to be a little darker but my chops cant handle the 3 yet. Any Mouthpiece ideas?
As for inntonation issues with maritns...I believe this came from issues early in production. I have played early handcrafts that have some hinkey issues...the only thing I have noticed on my current horn is the left hand palm keys when played in octave can be a little off...but that can easily be the player and even selmers have that reputation.
So lets hear it from some Martineers !
