How much are SDA Buffet Crampon alto saxes worth?

They seem to go for about $1200-1800 depending on condition. There are usually one or two on eBay, like every other make, varying from new old stock condition to battle-scarred school band examples. A lot of people quote Steve Goodson's words about Super Dynactions (see www.saxgourmet.com), where he quite correctly compares their build quality and tone with the Mark VI. Personally, I didn't find the keywork as fluid as a Mark VI, though the later transitional models had the keywork seen on the later S1 model, which makes for a fantastic horn. Undoubtedly, they are a class act and if to your taste, can make a very good buy indeed.
