Hi all,

I'm a new poster that has just gotten back into the sax-game:) after a long respite through college. I was obsessed with playing throughout middle school and high school, got very, very good and plateaued during college I guess.

I've always wanted a soprano, and I'm on somewhat of a tight budget, so I got the curved LA Sax (see pic attached) with much hesitation, though at a very good price on ebay.

Having played a Yamaha soprano before, I want a NON-NASAL, warm but powerful, seductive-jazzy kind of sound. What kind of mouthpiece (make and strength) should I be using?

Thanks.

Nice choice of sax. I like the sound sugal has and guardala has a very bright tone. You may want to look those up. Best of luck

I've had good luck with Selmer S80 "E" and "F" (depends on your druthers for tip opening size), and Super Sessions. However, another factor affecting tone is your reed choice. Some synthetic reeds produce an edgier sound which might be construed as nasal, whereas use of cane reeds tends to produce a mellower sound, in my experience.
