The MkVI sopranino was replaced by the SA80II in the late '80s, as was their bass.
I'd be tempted by the SA80II sopranino - it has modern soprano-style keywork and goes up to high F#.
Yanagisawas (and the Taiwanese copy) only go up to E, and have oldy-worldy style (and fixed low C#) LH pinky keys.

The best sopranino is the Rampone & Cazzani R1 from Italy. It has the modern keywork and a much fuller sound than the Selmer SAII. In silver plate or vintage gold plate.

If I could find a mint V1 nino and it wasn't overpriced I'd go for it. R&C horns always look a bit fragile to me. Chris have you had a series 2 on the bench?

I've only seen them behind glass in Howarth and Lewington's showrooms, but never worked on any.
Only SA80II instruments I get to see up close and personal are sopranos, altos and tenors.

Just before the Shaftsbury Avenue shop closed they had a new V1 nino for sale. It was £5000... the series 2 I keep hearing is very bright but if the tuning was acceptable the brightness could be tamed. If they aren't bringing a Series 3 out I might yet go for it. I still like Selmer.
