I just bought a H. Couf Superba I baritone saxophone sight unseen. I got a VERY good deal on it, so I figured it was worth a chance.

I have collected Keilwerths and Coufs or years, and heard GREAT things about their Baris but never played one.

Ok, here is my questions:

1. Do the baris NOT have rolled tone holes?? (just like the soprano Superba I models). The modern SX90R have soldered on tone holes which is different than the actually "rolled over" tone holes as on the Coufs.

2. Have you ever seen a Nickel-Silver Keyed Superba I model bari? I have only seen them in Laquer, but this horn is correctly marked and dates to 1980.

3. Ever seen any Low A Superba I baris?

Any help would be great. Please feel free to post, but please e-mail me as well, as I won't be able to check the forum for a day or two (brettsars@aol.com)

Thanks to all-

Superba I low A bari (http://www.saxpics.com/the_gallery/Keilwerth/H_Couf/superba_i/bari/example1_multi.jpg)

The difference between the I and II is that the I has RTH, the II has straight.

I know you're asking if the Couf RTH are the same as Conn RTH or it has the soldered "lip". I don't know.

The finish choice isn't extremely unususal. I've not seen one before, but "two tone" was a finish choice for the earlier New King and Toneking models, so why not?
