I was going to look in to purchasing an Alto Sax... I have come across 2 interesting horns, and I don't know anything about them , so I would appreciate some input.

Evette & Shaeffer S/N 15010

SO far all I can gather from this is that it is from 1968

King Model ?B13? Zephyr? S/N 24527

I called back and the guy told me he may have made a mistake, and got some model numbers mixed up, and thinks that B13 is to something else, but This horn mayb be a 1940-1945 King ZEPHYR series horn, which from what I have been reading are decent horns..

Some help would be most definately appreciated!

See www.saxpics.com for information on the early Evette & Schaeffer models, made by Buffet. The serial numbers are pretty messed up on the E&Ss with one reconstructed series applied to the early 20th century horns, and another series for those around mid-century. In general most folks consider the earlier horns pro level (carefulas many of the very early ones are high pitch horns), the later ones (generally lacquer with nickel keywork) intermediate.

Could the King "B13" actually be 613? The latter is part of King's student line of horns.
