I have the deluxe alto and I love it, so I will say its a really good Saxophone.

I heard some comments about the Jupiter Deluxes...
In paraphrase, the commentator said that while recent Jupiter saxophones are good, the lower models do not necessarily compare to the Artist Series (800 series).
The Deluxe Series, being the 700 series, is of inferior quality compared to the Artist Series. But if you're not looking to spend over $1000 on a sax, the Jupiter 700s are excellent buys.
I play a Jupiter 700, and although it is not one of the recently built saxophones, it still plays excellently.
Consider!

Anyone have any opinions on how is the keywork for the deluxe tenors? I was interested because the new models seem to have the tilting spatula that is usually only found on pro horns.

Very decent horn for the $$. Feels 'intermediate' if you know what I mean. Good keyboard and intonation. Get a better projecting mouthpiece however.
I normally play yanagisawas, and its not that good of course. But, 787's are many notches above student horns and I'm keeping it as a backup for gigs.
Hope this helps!

How are 787's as compared to 789's?

I play a Jupiter 769 GL which I bought for $700 brand new six months ago. It played very well out of the box and I've had no problems since. Except when it went out of tune because I dropped the neck. But that was my fault.
I've been playing it in church with an S80C** and everyone likes the sweet sound especially on notes with the octave key (middle D and up).

I used to have a jupiter bari sax deluxe model worst horn ive ever played. My friends tenors felt to me like it was designed for smaller more child like hands

Hi,
The jupiter deluxe series are intermediate saxes designed for school students approaching senior years. I too felt that they were made with smaller hands in mind and much prefer the 800 Artist Series.

> "The Deluxe Series, being the 700 series,"
This seems a common point of confusion...
According to the Jupiter catalog:
There are only four Deluxe Series saxophone models, the 547 soprano, 767 alto, 787 tenor, and 593 Baritone.
As one can see, the Deluxe Series is not limited to 7xx models, and the Jupiter 769 alto and 789 tenor are NOT Deluxe models, nor are the CES-7xx.
Similarly, the CAS-8xx are not Artist Series models. However, AFAICS, at the moment at least, all the 9xx models are part of the Artist Series, so there’s no confusion there. ;)
