Hi all,
Im going to buy some more CD's and would like to welcome any suggestions.
I tend to like the faster paced more up-beat stuff, but also like things like Georgia by Ray CHarles.
Im trying to broaden my musical horizons, so please feel free to recommend away :D

Hard to make recommendations based on some pretty loose criteria. If I were starting to listen to jazz with no idea where to start, I would go to eMusic and register for at least 20 downloads a month. This way you can try out different types of jazz without too much investment and risk. You can also listen to short clips before you download, although with jazz these are hit or miss since you just get the first minute or so of the track which may or may not represent what the tune is about.
Anyway, http://www.emusic.com/ give it a try.
If all that doesn't grab you, you can use the "Kind of Blue" method. Pick a jazz CD that you like then explore each of the players who play on it. For example, Kind of Blue is the point of entry for a lot of jazz fans. So based on that you look at who was on the date (Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley, Jimmy Cobb, Paul Chambers, Wynton Kelly) and look at their output using a site like http://www.allmusic.com/ (http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg) try out a couple of CDs that look interesting then repeat. Before you know it, you will have started a jazz collection.
