My Beaugnier-made alto (Leblanc Noblet) is a suprisingly good horn. The mechanics are nothing to write home about, but its got a large bore and a big flexible sound. The main draw is that they are unknown and should be CHEAP.

Check out both the Noblet and Beaugnier sections under Saxophone Makes and Models. Lots of playing impressions are recorded there.

i had one with lh bell keys and it was a very good horn. i bought it off of ebay and it counts as my worst ebay experience of all time, not the horns fault. in fact the horn was so ratty and falsly advertised that it should not have played at all. for some reason it wasn't leaky ... the only thing it wasn't, it really played well. amazing tone and i would pick up another in a flash. i ended up trading it for a mp to a friend and getting a partial refund from the seller. in the end i took a bath on it just to get it out of my sight. these horns are a great value and i always have to resist buying them because four tenors is more than i can handle. i see them on ebay my index finger gets itchy. i think one sold here on sotw a couple of months ago as a noblet.
way nicer than the green la you had. i have a burnished brass 850 so i know.

I was going to get a Vito from Ebay but it was in rough shape and no neck or case..so got a 30A Buescher Elkhart tenor instead...(complete and decent, easily fixable shape)
