Anyone here fly with their tenor? I don't mean play fast, I mean take it aboard an airplane. Carry-on luggage? Will it fit overhead? Will they even let you carry it on? I spend a week across the country once a month and hate to lose the practice....
I asked in the beginner forum, and got no replys. I figured I posted in the wrong forum. I am very sorry if the multi-post annoys someone.

Thanks Peter. Search is a good tool, huh?
I'll post my experiences with US based airlines if I end up carrying my sax.

They made me check my Hiscox in the luggage last time I flew about a month ago. That sucked but there was no damage to the horn due to havign the right type of flight case. Buy yourself a Hiscox.

Gary: I did the "FLying Tenors" threads and got loads of good info. And Randall And Bootman are consistent with the recomendations for the Hiscox.
I think the moral is: All airlines are not alike in treatment of musicians and their instruments; second: only you care enough to protect your equipment.

I second the hiscox. I have never suffered and damage including when it fell out of the van onto a kerb
