Anyone tried one? Seems like a JK Shadow copy? Unclear from the website if it's black lacquer over nickle silver or black plate over it(site says different things in different places). The sound sample is nice and it is a beauty!

Joe,

You're right that the black pearl tenor has the appearance of the JK Shadow, except that the keys are gold-lacquered and instead of nickel-silver plated.

I going to order the PM tenor by the end of this month; I've been saving!

Once it arrives, I will write a report and post it.

P.S. Nice photo with Bono! Is it real?

That's not Bono, it's smooth jazz sax man Warren Hill.......please do let me know how you enjoy your PM. I am still debating whether to try one....The black pearl looks and sounds like buried treasure! Oh, I found out it is black nickle plate over nickle silver, with gold plated keys.

Yes, as I said previously the finish information is confusing because in some spots it says black lacquer and in others black nickle. I spoke to a dealer and also looked over several websites, because the pics look like it's plated. The dealer confirmed it's plated, and he said he would let the mauriat folks know about the error. It's kind of funny because Darren Rahn plays one, but doesn't appear to know the diff between black lacquer and plate. I have previously noticed the same error made by some folks when talking about Keilwerths too.

Yeah, I can't wait to get the black-pearl tenor and will definitely post my report on it for you guys to read!

In that pic he could be his brother, if he had a five o'clock shadow. Looking forward to your report!
