Hello,
Have just joined, so I hope I post this properly. I am just starting, saved my money going to get sax. Which would be the best for complete beginner. Also which mouthpiece for either sax. Or would another model suitl People say alto is best is that correct.
Thanks for your input.

You didn't mention your age or reason for interest, so I thought I'd mention a couple of thoughts. The yamahas you mentioned are great beginner instruments - among the best available. But one of the attributes of a good beginner instrument is that they are built to take a beating from school kids. If you are a more mature individual that knows how to take care of stuff, you have other options that might give you a better sounding sax for equal or sometimes far less money.

I'm assuming you are looking at new saxes since you mentioned both yts and yas models. I would suggest you compare the prices on those models to some of the Kessler Music models. I've got no connection with Dave Kessler other than I am one of a jillion satisfied customers Dave has on this board. Their link is at the top of the page. The biggest downside to buying one of Dave's models is that yamaha saxes would be easier to resell. However, if you are buying new, you're going to take a tremendous hit selling even a yas or yts model. If I were in the market for a new sax at a beginner sax price point, I would personally buy one of the Kessler models.

Hope that at least gives you an option to think about.

YTS. Be a man. Play the tenor.

And you call me a trouble maker. :)

Be a forum member and buy every known sax, mouthpiece, ligature, etc.

And don't play any of 'em. Just make mega bucks selling them to other GAS sufferers. :D
