I've been looking into getting one of these saxes but I'm a little concerned about how much accesory room there is in the shaped case? I travel very heavy (I like to be equipped for anything that could happen) and I don't want to have to carry another bag.

How much can you fit (without damaging the sax) into one of these cases? :?

The hard plastic case has virtually no space at all, except for a slot into which the neck almost fits.

That is correct. If I buy another "P" I will immediately put in another case. I have a contoured Protec sitting around someplace that would be infinitely more protective than the Mauriat case.

I think the case is standing up to the punishment I put it through, but there is NO room for anything. I've ordered a ProTech for mine. I need room for a second neck. Right now I'm wrapping the neck up and keeping it in the bell. No problems so far, but I'll slip up one day and the lacquer will be scratched up on the octave arm. Not even enough room for 3 mouthpieces.

Alto case is square with a decent place for 2nd neck, 3-4 mpcs AND a small zippered pocket on the outside. Decent quality.

I have seen them with three different cases on the Tenor. One square, and two contoured. Mine came with the worst of all, a plastic contoured one that was a zippered case with no hinges. The flex between the two halves was very bad and made me quite nervous. I replaced it with a Pro Tech, but it barely has enough room for the neck and a mouthpiece. The other contoured one I saw was pretty sturdy, but had no room except a small compartment underneath the saxophone. You actually had to pick up the sax and pull the lid off the compartment to get to it. Needless to say, it was very inconvenient. The square case I saw had lots of room in it and was OK quality.
