I practiced - and I still practice - Rauscher’s routine for many years, but italian sax player Gianluigi Trovesi (he's not too famous outside Europe but he’s an ECM recording artist and some of his cds got a five star rating on Downbeat magazine) suggested me a very simple but useful exercise: play slow ballads - something like body and soul, loverman or what you like - using only overtones with Bb, B, C, C#, D, D#, E fingerings. It’s important to play slowly and legato but trying to play very clean passages from note to note in an “espressivo” way. This excercise help me a lot to have a better control over overtones and altissimo production.

ok basically for overtones what i learned is to start on a note like low Bb(actually thats where you should start) and you play that note but without tounging it..........then u can try and tighten your lip a bit and make it jump the octive since you might not be able to just hit the upper octive right off the bat

and what you will want to do is keep that same settings of your throat and ombuture that you played with the overtone and then play it with the normal fingering..........what you want to do ideally is match your regular tone to your overtone

so you repeat this and try to match because your overtones are showing you the true tone of the instrument or the "better" tone

for some notes its trikey though because for me my low Bb is really sharp so when i try to do overtones for it its hard because my middle Bb is naturally just a tiny bit flat...........and so i dont understand how i would match the tone when the intonation is way off..........but yea so just do that and eventually u will hear a difference that is well........awsome if you practice this correctly

Just a bit of extra information... most players find it easiest to hit the second note up in the overtone series, so instead of hitting a Bb an octave above low Bb, you would be hitting an F. You want to work on it until you can know exactly which you will hit before you do it. Then you can move up. But be sure you get them all sounding with good tone before you go any higher. I hope I was of some help. I will PM you a good overtone resource. :)
