You know how so many people like bad mouth products before they know anything about it? Well, back when I had my PM 67r I took it into a local music store and everyone loved the way it looked, but when they heard Taiwan they instantly jumped to conclusion, turned their noses up, etc, etc... Tried giving them the story of PM and how it gets great reviews and all, but of course they didn't want to hear it. Well, after a few months I go in today to get some patched for my mouthpiece and low and behold what do I see? PM tenors and altos... hehe.
After telling a few guys how great they were and played, they now want to believe me.... :D
I no longer play a PM, but still they are great horns and I thought this was a funny story.

I think our new local store is going to stock them too, at least if the manager gets his druthers...

LOL! Well, everyone's jumpin' on the bandwagon now! They are good horns, and at a decent price (assuming you local store isn't jacking up the prices 200%!)

The store's profit margain must be better than they get with the well-known manufacturer. I guess we'll be seeing them at the local pawn shops too.

I hope to pick up a nice tenor from a pawn shop hopefully at a good price.
That'd be great!

I had a bad experience with the soprano (terrible intonation) but I have to admit, that brushed antique bari gives me a semi! Here's a question, though: After all they go through with these, why do they send such a crappy mouthpiece with 'em?

It is not the type of mouthpiece I usually like playing on but the one that came with my PMXT-66R tenor is very nice playing for a "stock" mouthpiece. I don't know any maker out there that is offering a premium high-end piece with the instrument. I would equate it to anything being offered by Cannonball or Yamaha with their horns. I don't know if Selmer ships with mouthpieces or not these days....nonetheless I've never been impressed personally with a Selmer C* or S80 mouthpiece.
Also I've owned a couple other Asian sopranos in the past and the stock mouthpieces were total junk as well. So maybe for distribution from Taiwan no one is stocking a decent soprano piece these days.....of course someone else may very well have a different experience with their soprano...not sure about Jupiter's.

I agree, the mouthpieces are pretty crappy. BUT, these are pro horns and most buying them are into their own mpcs anyhow. It wasn't an issue for me...I have about 20 pieces now.
The local store here in Gillette, WY, is considering selling them also. Norm said the guys in Rapid City, SD (the mother ship) were very impressed with them at the NAMM show. Keep these horns. They may just turn out to be collectors items one of these days!...Or at least recognized as the early versions of the best sax manufacturing company in the world!
I know the statement above is laughable to some of you on this forum. But I just compared the JK (laq.), JK Shadow, 2 Ref 54's and my PM66R last week. For my taste, PM is the winner! *(but the sound of the 54 is pretty awesome too!)

Funny, I loved the PM66r, but didn't care much for the Selmer Reference.
